STEP 1. Dampen the surface with water. Use a garden hose.
STEP 2. Apply some undiluted Exterior Wood Cleaner.
STEP 3. Scrub the treated area with a nylon scrubbing brush in the lengthwise direction of the wood until it is clean. This will cause the product to foam. For stubborn stains, repeat the treatment.
STEP 4. Rinse thoroughly with water until all the foam has disappeared.
STEP 5. Allow the surface to dry well (until it looks and feels dry).
STEP 6. Treat with the Rubio Monocoat exterior wood protection product of your choice.
- A good preparation is crucial to ensure a lasting protective finish. All new, greyed, and previously treated wood must always be treated beforehand with Exterior Wood Cleaner.
- Are you working overhead? Then wear protective goggles to prevent any product from getting into your eyes. The product is not harmful, but it will cause irritation in contact with the eyes.
- Be careful when working near a fish pond. This product is harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects.
- You can also use this product as a stand-alone product, for example to refresh weathered furniture after the winter. No extra treatment is required here. You can see the result of the product immediately.
- The Exterior Wood Cleaner is extremely suitable for degreasing freshly installed wood and in this way open up the pores. This will ensure that the subsequent treatment with finishing products goes as smoothly as possible.

Exterior Wood Cleaner is a preparatory cleaner for all types of exterior wood (wooden patios, fences, outside doors, carports, terraces, etc.) and composite. The product removes grey discolouration, green deposits and dirt. It is suitable both to refresh your wooden surface after the winter and to prepare your wooden surface for a treatment with Rubio Monocoat oil. The product can therefore also be used as a stand-alone product when renovating.
New, aged and already treated wood should always be cleaned with Exterior Wood Cleaner before an oil application.
