› Instructions for repair and renovation
If the surface treated with Oil Plus 2C shows a lot of wear and tear, or needs a colour repair, we recommend maintenance with Oil Plus 2C in the original colour.
STEP 1. Use Deep Cleaner to make the wooden surface stain-free. Should stains remain, repeat the cleaning process or use one of our stain removers (Grease Remover, Limespot Remover or Tannin Remover). Please consult the technical data sheet before use.
*If the wooden object is excessively damaged or neglected, you will first need to polish the surface with the same screening grit you used to finish your wooden object initially. If necessary, please consult your professional.
STEP 2. Remove the dissolved dirt with a damp cloth or mop and clean water and allow the surface to dry well (± 30 minutes at a temperature of 20°C and in a well-ventilated room).
STEP 3. Stir the A-component until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Mix the two components carefully (1 to 2 minutes) with a ratio of about 3 units A to 1 unit B.
STEP 4. Spread out a small amount of Oil Plus 2C with a beige/red Rubio Monocoat Scrubby pad or hand sander with a small beige 5.9 inch Rubio Monocoat pad (you can also use the Rubio Monocoat Mouse Pad for smaller objects and corners).
STEP 5. Let absorb for a few minutes. Wipe away all excess oil with a cloth or hand sander using a white 5.9 inch Rubio Monocoat pad. Finish off with a cloth within max. 30 minutes. The surface should feel non-sticky! Submerge all used cloths in water.
- The product may not be diluted under any circumstances!
- Stir the product well before applying.
- When using several units on one site, it is recommended to mix them to obtain an even result.
- After application, the surface may appear slightly shiny. This will disappear after 2-3 cleanings with Universal Soap or Surface Care.
- The smoother the surface, the less oil and pigments will penetrate into the wood, resulting in a less coloured surface.
- Our oils are developed with environmentally friendly ingredients. However, some people may be allergic to certain elements. Therefore, we recommend wearing gloves when applying the A+B component in order to protect the skin.
- Consumption: 30 - 50 m²/L
- These consumption rates are indicative only. Results depend on the type of wood and the preparation. It is always advisable to apply a sample in order to determine the exact consumption.
- Linseed oil is a natural product and not subject to spontaneous combustion. However, oil on a cloth or other tools does entail a fire risk. The oxidation of the oil leads to heat accumulation, which can result in spontaneous combustion. Therefore, the cloths and other tools must be soaked in water before disposal.
- The product can be stored for 36 months in a dry environment and in the original packaging.
- Oil Plus 2C may be used for a maximum of 4-6 hours after mixing the A & B components.
- Colours serve only as examples. We recommend carrying out a test on identical sanded wood.
Oil Plus 2C is a true oil of the newest generation thanks to its revolutionary binding. The product molecularly bonds with the wood fibres in the surface to be treated and thus protects and colours your wood in a single layer. This avoids overlaps and marks, and you get low consumption and long-lasting protection. In addition, you preserve the natural look of the wood and its fibre structure. The product is also very easy to apply on almost all types of wood and it dries quickly. Thanks to the B component (accelerator), the surface is dry after 24 hours and cured after 5 days. From 5 days after application, the surface can be cleaned with water and soap.
The Oil Plus 2C range is very colourful. You can choose between more than 40 colours. This range consists partly of colours that enrich the natural look and feel of your wood and partly of trendy colours that brighten up your interior with bright shades.
The numerous certificates Oil Plus 2C has been awarded with demonstrate that the oil is a genuine quality product. The environmentally friendly oil based on linseed received an LCA from VITO, B-EPD from the FPS Public Health and the Indoor Air Comfort Gold certificate from Eurofins. These certificates respectively show that the product is produced, distributed and recycled in an environmentally friendly way (for the LCA and B-EPD) and that the product contributes to a healthy indoor environment (for the Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Gold certificate). Rubio Monocoat was the first in the wood treatment sector to obtain the Eurofins certificate. In addition, the oil also meets the EN 71-3 toy standard and is Food Contact Compliant. This means that the product can be safely applied to wooden toys, cutting boards, kitchen worktops, etc.
