A treatment with Universal Maintenance Oil can easily be done without professional knowledge.
› Furniture, stairs & worktops
STEP 1. Make the surface free of dirt and dust.
STEP 2. Spray Surface Care on the surface.
STEP 3. Clean the surface with a mop or Microfibre Pad.
STEP 4. Let the surface dry (± 15 minutes). Careful: do not leave water on the surface, it is sufficient to clean damp. Do not walk on the surface until it is completely dry.
STEP 5. Take the Universal Maintenance Oil and stir thoroughly until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
STEP 6. Apply a small amount of oil with a brush and afterwards spread out with a beige or red Scrubby pad or a hand sander with a small beige or red 5.9 inch pad (you can also use the Mouse Pad for smaller objects and corners). Preferably work in areas of 2 to 4 m² (areas which you can finish within ± 15 minutes, including the next step).
STEP 7. Allow to absorb for a few minutes and then wipe away all the excess oil with a cloth or a hand sander with a small white 5.9 inch pad. Each treated area should be wiped dry within 15 minutes and should not feel sticky anymore.
› Floors
STEP 1. Make the floor free of dirt and dust.
STEP 2. Pour a maximum of 50 to 100 ml of Universal Soap in a bucket with 10 litres of water.
STEP 3. Clean the surface with a mop or Microfibre Pad.
- Tip: The best working method is with two buckets: one with the soap mixture and one with clean water to rinse the dirt out of the mop.
STEP 4. Rinse with clean water. Careful: do not leave water on the surface, it is sufficient to clean damp.
STEP 5. Allow to dry for ± 15 minutes. Do not walk on the floor until it is completely dry.
STEP 6. Take the Universal Maintenance Oil and stir thoroughly until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
STEP 7. Work in areas of 5 to 10 m². Start each area by treating the edges with a beige or red Scrubby pad. Then apply a small amount of Universal Maintenance Oil every 0.5 metres with a brush. Spread in the direction of the wood with a polisher with a beige or red 16 inch pad.
STEP 8. Wipe away all the excess oil with a cloth or a polisher with a white 16 inch pad.
STEP 9. After you have finished all the areas, go over them again with a new white pad. The surface should not feel sticky anymore.
- Use very little product to avoid the surface becoming sticky.
- 0.5 litres = 75 to 100 m² (depending on the degree of wear).
- These volumes are purely indicative. Results depend on the type of wood and the preparation. It is always advisable to take a sample in order to determine the exact consumption.
- Linseed oil is a natural product and not subject to spontaneous combustion. However, oil on a cloth or other tools does entail a fire risk. The oxidation of the oil leads to heat accumulation, which can result in spontaneous combustion. Therefore, the cloths and other tools must be soaked in water before disposal.
- The product can be stored for up to 12 months in dry conditions and in its original packaging.
- The product must not be diluted under any circumstances.
Universal Maintenance Oil is a maintenance oil for refreshing wood treated with Rubio Monocoat oil, as well as for maintaining surfaces not treated with Rubio Monocoat. The oil is extremely suitable for 'high traffic' areas that require regular protection (e.g. public areas, offices, restaurants, hotels, etc.).
The frequency of this maintenance depends on the intensity with which the floor is used. It is recommended to carry out this treatment before the colour fades. Maintenance with Oil Plus 2C in the original colour is necessary if the treated surface shows excessive wear or if the colour needs to be restored.
The product is available in the colour Pure (pigmentless), White & Black and can also be applied to micro-cracks in varnished wood.
