Instructions

› Furniture, stairs & worktops

STEP 1. Sand the surface scratch-free. Finish with screening net 100 to 150, the colour intensity depends on the sanding method used.

  • When renovating, you must remove all the residues from previous treatments completely (varnish, oil, wax, etc.).

STEP 2. Vacuum the surface thoroughly.

STEP 3. Shake the Pre-Aging well before use and pour in a bucket (Rubio Monocoat Bucket).

STEP 4. Apply the product evenly and in a saturated manner on the to be treated surface with a Rubio Monocoat tool, such as a Microfibre Pad, Brush, Sponge, spray gun or roller.

  • Tip: For edges/corners: apply with brush (Rubio Monocoat Brush) or a green Mouse Pad.

STEP 5. Smooth out with a beige Scrubby Pad. Avoid puddle formation.

STEP 6. Allow to dry for about 24 hours and ensure sufficient ventilation. The exact drying time depends on the foundation, air humidity, temperature and ventilation.

  • Tip: It is perfectly normal for the surface to dry in ‘spots’ that follow the grain pattern. As long as the surface still looks ‘spotted’, it is not dry yet.

STEP 7. After drying, break the raised wood fibres with a red Scrubby Pad and vacuum afterwards.

STEP 8. Now apply the Oil Plus 2C. Please consult the technical data sheet of the oil for a correct application.

Tips & Tricks

  • Keep in mind that the wood type, grain structure and porosity of the wood can influence the end result. Therefore, it is important to make a sample first on the chosen wood species or the surface that needs treating.
  • When using several containers at one site, it is required to mix them for an even result.
  • To avoid overlapping, always work wet-on-wet.
  • On resinous wood species small white stains may appear as a reaction of the product to the wood.

Consumption

10-15 m²/litre*

* These usages are merely indicative. Results depend on wood type, sanding and method of preparation. It is always recommended to make a sample in order to calculate the exact usage.

Remarks
  • The product can be stored up to 36 months in dry conditions and in its original packaging. Keep away from frost.
